#MKY Friend-Submitted: You noted the yahrzeit of Rav Refoel Soloveitchik today, I was in Brisk when he was niftar and remember the levaya. Everyone spoke about how he took over his father’s ‘hardest’ battle and made it his own, fighting against both autopsies and also disrespecting bones of meisim by construction workers. It wasn’t a popular battle and it never really ended. They would work at night, or out of sight, and it took all of Rav Refoel’s koach and energy, but he didnt tire. The Torah of Brisk lives, but thanks to him, so does the sensitivity and halachic vigilance. (See attached sign, a rare instance of the Brisker Rov signing a kol korei)

#MKY Friend-Submitted: We used to say “Just another day in busytown, where the hatzalah man is also the bike fixer man” but now with our #MKYEyes, we see another day in the chessed capital, where every talent or ability is just a vehicle for helping a brother

#MKYFriend–Submitted: I just witnessed one of the most moving displays of kavod haTorah I have ever seen, boarding the flight to TLV. One of the younger American machzikei Torah noticed the Philadelphia Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Sholom Kamenetzky, during mincha before boarding. When he learned that the Rosh Yeshiva was seated in economy, he tried upgrading him, but there were no more seats left in business class. On the spot, he insisted on giving the Rosh Yeshiva his seat and he refused to take no for an answer! I have heard people say great things about his father, Reb Yaakov Rajchenbach a’h, but now I see the effects of that chinuch in real time, as I watch this successful businessman sit in a crowded economy row, content and happy that Reb Sholom is where he should be – in business class, learning !!!!

#MKY Friend-Submitted: I was sitting in the Pagi shul near Sanhedria, alone- just me and the elderly gentleman who was sweeping. Then, when he was done, and he went to the back and opened his own sefer, the broomstick standing proudly behind him as his lips started to move, one more holy Jew in the back of a newly-cleaned shul

#MKY Friend-Submitted: virtually the entire flight between London and Tel Aviv. These two seat mates continued their spontaneous chavrushaft, brothers, connecting over a shared birthright

#MKY Friend-Submitted: I met this wonderful, caring Jew at the entrance to Har Manuchos. He’s packing up for the day and heading to Mincha, but he will be back at 5am Tisha B’av morning to help all those that have the minhag to visit a bais olam on Tisha B’av.
