Today is the fifth yahrtzeit of Harav Elya Fischer, Rav of the Gerrer chassidus in NY. Rav Elya was a Gaon and a Tzaddik- and especially sensitive. He and his wife never merited biological children, so every Friday he would stay home waiting until after his wife lit the Shabbos lecht. He explained that she had no children to wish Gut Shabbos to after candle lighting so he made sure to be there to wish, and to be wished.
